Poker

Poker

What is poker??????

The most famous and interesting type of card game is Poker. The poker always centers on the act of betting. In Poker, the players based on certain cards combination in their hands place their bet usually in an area called the central pot. Like other variations of card game in poker one who has the highest card value in accordance with the recognized hand rankings hierarchy, or player who stands at the end with all other players have folded wins the round so called the current pot.

Variations:
There are many variations of Poker. They all follow an analogous pattern in game play and use an identical hand ranking hierarchy. Amongst them there are three main variants, which are largely grouped together by a series of predefined rules of card-dealing and betting:
• "Straight"
Straight is the oldest variant of poker which has its root from the game called Primero which has now re evolved as three card brag. This very popular game was played during the American Revolutionary War period and still continued in the U.K. In straight a hand of five cards is given to each player, and players start their bet initially and as the game progresses the bet is raised and re raised. Sometimes the strategy "Straight" is used as a final showdown in the newer trend of Poker.
• Stud
The next eldest family of Poker is “Stud”. Here a different strategy is adopted while handling cards. In a particular round of game the prearranged combination of cards are dealt with the face-down and face-up. This is followed by a round of betting. This was the variation that was adopted when there was a transformation in the game play of Poker as it proceeded from three cards to five in hand. In recent years a variation with 7 card to each player is followed widely amongst the player. Here a player is provided with two extra cards and from which they can choose the best possible combination of 5 card.
• Draw
In Draw a player holds a complete hand with cards f ace-down. After placing their bet the players can change their hand by eliminating the unwanded cards and can deal with new powers. The most popular variant of Draw is the 5 card draw.
• Community –
This is a variation of Stud in which the players are handed an incomplete hand of face down cards. Then the players a provided with a set of face-up cards called the community cards which are place at the centre. The players can choose from community cards to complete their 5-card hand. The two well known variations of the Community family are the Texas hold-em and Omaha.
How to play poker???
As there are large numbers of variations in the game of Poker it is difficult to formulate rules for all individual game type. But there are certain protocols that act as a foundation and are applicable regardless of the game type.
The following scenarios can be observed when the Poker rules are applied at the time of betting round:
1. A notion should arise when a player bets zero. It is certainly shows some signs that the player should not loose his interest in the center pot.
2. The general theory that has to be kept in mind while raising the bet or when betting is that your bet should be momentarily higher the bet placed by other players. This act will make other players after your turn must match your bet value or should go over the bet so that they can still stay in game and claim the pot.
3. In poker a call is made when you place your bet that is same as the bet placed by the player before you have placed. This strategy ensures that you are still in the game and not be deprived of the money.
4. Folding means that a player gives up his cards and a chance of winning. In poker folding, comes into play when another player has cards with higher order or when a player cannot raise the bet anymore.
In some poker game the number of betting rounds for a player is stated. In general, the game starts with the arrangement of customary punch of cards. From there, each other variations in the game comprises of its own rules that has to be followed like determining the wild cards or deciding whether the ace card is played high or low.
